This Digital Asset Risk Disclosure (“Disclosure”) applies when you fund your Buvei account or wallet using digital assets, including stablecoins, or otherwise use any feature of the Services that involves digital assets. It forms part of the Buvei Terms of Service. Please read it carefully before transacting. If you do not understand or accept these risks, do not fund your account with digital assets.
Buvei is not a bank, exchange, or investment adviser. Digital assets are not legal tender, are not bank deposits, and are not covered by any deposit insurance or investor compensation scheme. You alone are responsible for deciding whether using digital assets is appropriate for you.
1. Price Volatility
The value of digital assets can change rapidly and unpredictably, including within the time it takes for a transfer to be confirmed and credited. Where a digital asset is converted into a fiat currency balance, the conversion rate applied is the rate available at the time we process the transaction, not the rate at the time you initiated it. The amount credited to your account may therefore be lower than you expected. Stablecoins may also lose their intended peg to the underlying currency. Buvei does not compensate for losses caused by market movements.
2. Irreversible Transfers
Transfers on a blockchain are final and cannot be cancelled, reversed, or recalled once broadcast. If you send digital assets to an incorrect address, on an unsupported network, or using an unsupported token, the assets will in most cases be permanently lost and Buvei will not be able to recover them. Always confirm the destination address, network, and asset type shown in the Buvei app before sending, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.
3. Fraud and Scams
Digital asset users are frequent targets of phishing, fake support accounts, impersonation, investment scams, and social engineering. Buvei will never ask you for your private keys, seed phrases, or one-time passcodes, and will never ask you to send digital assets to an address outside the Buvei app. Any such request is fraudulent. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and devices. Losses resulting from fraud, scams, or unauthorized access caused by your disclosure of credentials are borne by you.
4. Technology and Security Risks
Blockchain networks and digital asset software may experience congestion, outages, forks, protocol changes, or security vulnerabilities. Third-party wallets, exchanges, and bridges you use to send assets to Buvei may be hacked, suspend withdrawals, or become insolvent. These events may delay, prevent, or alter the crediting of your funds and are outside Buvei's control.
5. Reliance on Third Parties
Buvei relies on third-party networks, custodians, liquidity providers, and payment service providers to receive, convert, and settle digital assets. The failure, delay, or insolvency of any such provider may affect the availability of digital asset funding, the time taken to credit your account, or the rates applied.
6. Regulatory and Legal Risks
Laws and regulations governing digital assets vary by jurisdiction and are changing rapidly. Changes in law, or actions by regulators or law enforcement, may restrict or prohibit digital asset funding in your jurisdiction, require Buvei to freeze or report transactions, or require us to suspend or discontinue digital asset features at short notice. You are responsible for complying with the laws of your jurisdiction, including any tax reporting and payment obligations arising from your use of digital assets.
7. Availability of Services
Buvei may add, change, limit, suspend, or withdraw support for any digital asset or network at any time, including for risk, compliance, or operational reasons. Minimum and maximum amounts, confirmation requirements, and fees may change without prior notice. Funds sent to an asset or network after support has been withdrawn may not be recoverable.
8. No Advice
Nothing provided by Buvei, including this Disclosure, in-app content, or communications from our support team, constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. You should obtain independent professional advice if you are unsure whether using digital assets is appropriate for your circumstances.
9. Acknowledgement
By funding your Buvei account with digital assets you confirm that you have read and understood this Disclosure, that you accept the risks described above, and that you are using digital assets of your own free will and at your own risk. This Disclosure is not exhaustive and does not describe every risk associated with digital assets.
